Located in Guangjiachong Valley, Suizhou, Hubei, the Tree House is part of a dispersed guesthouse cluster for Lostvilla · Ginkgo Valley. Set where two valley paths meet, the 90 sqm plot had to avoid the roots of three mature trees while accommodating two guest rooms, storage and equipment spaces. The building is lifted above ground to protect the trees and create two spatial conditions: elevated rooms screened by ginkgo canopies, and an open semi-outdoor ground level for dining, resting, swinging and gathering in shade. Its geometry is shaped by the irregular boundary, tree positions and movement routes. A reinforced concrete stair core is rotated 60 degrees, withdrawing from the centre to release a clearing below and form a delayed entrance sequence. Visitors are first drawn by trees and swings, then turn to find the stair and ascend through the forest. Architecture, interior and landscape are conceived as one system. Geometric openings replace conventional windows, framing branches, trunks, shadows and sky while guiding how guests sit and move. Rotated walls, curved stairs and irregular transitions create a decentralised experience. A hybrid structure of independent foundations, steel frame, concrete shear wall and light-gauge steel minimises wall thickness and maximises usable area. Charred cedar, metallic paint, rough plaster and wood veneer respond to light and vegetation, allowing the Tree House to shift from quiet forest shelter by day to glowing object at night.
