Located on a roof garden, the Glass Pavilion is a contemporary meditation hall aligned toward the Great Stupa of Dhammamongkol Temple. While traditional Thai viharas are historically enclosed and dim to induce contemplation,this design innovates by utilizing abundant natural light to shape the meditative space. The exterior geometry integrates the proportions of the Ayutthaya-period vihara roof (Wat Phra Mongkhon Bophit) with Lanna-era chedis (King Mengrai period), reinterpreting historical sacred forms into modern, unfolded structural sections. Inside, the structural planes harmoniously merge into the symbolic form of a lotus bud. Transitioning from the darkness of ancient sanctuaries, the interior atmosphere is defined by dynamic natural light. Pale gray steel surfaces mirror the changing tones of the Bangkok sky, juxtaposed with the warmth of natural teak wood. This interplay creates an ever-shifting sense of tranquility. Functionally, operable lower glass walls allow natural ventilation,while a smart climate system cools only the lower occupied zone,letting heat rise efficiently. This pavilion serves as a scalable prototype for high-density downtown environments, such as corporate offices and mega-malls. It addresses the modern crisis of digital burnout by offering a physical "set-zero" space. By stepping out of the digital grind into this architectural sanctuary,urban workers can reset their minds,relieve stress and return to city life with restored clarity and balance.
