KVA Kebag Enova
Selected in Architectural design
KEBAG Enova redefines the architecture of industrial infrastructure. Designed as one of Switzerland’s most advanced waste-to-energy plants, the project combines technological innovation, resource efficiency and architectural quality within a cohesive and expressive form. A solid concrete base houses the core infrastructure, while a lightweight upper volume encloses the technical facilities. Integrated photovoltaic façades, regional Jura limestone and carefully articulated proportions transform a highly complex industrial facility into a distinctive landmark that contributes to both the energy transition and the identity of its region. The project addresses the replacement of an aging waste-to-energy plant with a future-oriented facility capable of meeting growing environmental and energy demands. The challenge was to integrate complex industrial processes, energy production and public visibility within a clear architectural concept. The design organizes the facility into legible functional layers and creates a strong overall form that communicates its purpose. By combining infrastructure, renewable energy generation and architectural quality, the project establishes a new model for sustainable industrial buildings.
