Lintianshan Forestry Culture Park stands as one of the most meticulously preserved logging settlements from the period of Japanese occupation in Taiwan. Nestled in the eastern mountainous region, the site is steeped in the rich cultural influences of indigenous communities. Today, the government is committed to reviving the remnants of the nation’s logging industry, with a vision to breathe new life into history through restoration and adaptive reuse. The cultural diversity inherent in this region contributes to its uniqueness as an industrial heritage site, deserving of thoughtful revitalization. This initiative marks the first phase of a broader project, encompassing four key buildings. The transformation of this industrial heritage into a forestry cultural park presented significant challenges, including addressing maintenance costs, managing energy consumption, and adapting industrial facilities for public engagement. The project aims to balance these technical demands with the need to offer a fresh vision for the community, preserving the past to tell its story while forging a sustainable future for its current residents.
