On the northern edge of Lousada, where the town quietly expands, the new Intermodal Station settles within an emerging cultural pole — defined by the Conservatory of Music, the Romanesque Interpretation Centre and the future Romanesque Square. The site offered itself naturally: close to the centre, yet free from its historic core. The building is conceived as a silent inhabitant. Present, never intrusive. It approaches the town without entering it, redirecting mobility without disturbing the quieter rhythm of its streets. Form follows function — and here, function means shelter: a place to wait, to arrive, to depart. Despite its scale, the structure touches the ground at a single point. The gesture frees the parcel, physically and visually, leaving pedestrian flows uninterrupted as they cross this new urban node. The roof — the element of strongest presence — becomes the defining act: nearly a third glazed, drawing light inward and dissolving the boundary between shelter and city. Beneath it, a compact volume holds the essential: waiting area, storage, a self-cleaning sanitary facility. Nothing more. The proposal reduces itself to what is necessary, offering a precise architectural gesture in return. Discreet yet decisive, the station renews this edge of Lousada — a quiet but significant marker within the town's contemporary landscape.
