The Daimler AG staff car park, designed following a competition win, forms a clearly defined addition to the Mannheim plant. Its curved geometry mediates between the large-scale production halls and the adjacent residential area. The structure is based on Goldbeck's standardised steel system with prefabricated floor slabs. Roofs of trapezoidal steel decking with extensive green roofs complement reinforced concrete circulation cores, entrances and the access tunnel, all executed in exposed concrete grade SB3. The façade consists of inclined aluminium louvres mounted on acoustically effective steel cassettes. Finished in RAL 9006 metallic with DB703 matt accents, it provides weather, noise and privacy protection while creating a dynamic appearance that shifts between openness and enclosure depending on light and perspective. Sustainability is embedded in the design through natural cross-ventilation, extensive green roofs, landscaped ramp areas, efficient material use and a high degree of prefabrication, supporting resource-efficient construction. With 12,000 m² of usable floor area, the building combines functional efficiency with architectural precision, creating a calm and welcoming entrance to the factory site. It was completed in October 2022.
