NTT Pavilion ~Architecture Draped in Emotion~
Honorable Mention in Architectural design
Plain Text1The NTT Pavilion is an innovative project proposing a new mode of architecture for an increasingly complex age. Based on the concept of “paraconsistent relationships,” it transcends binary oppositions—self and other, real and digital, human and nature—to create a unified environment. Realizing “Architecture Draped in Emotion,” it extends human perception and emotion through architecture. Its dispersed configuration dissolves conventional notions of front and back, creating a park-like environment that can be experienced without entering a building. By redefining architecture from a “closed interior” to a shared experience, it promotes inclusivity. The structure employs a tension system using 9 mm carbon-fiber cables, reducing material consumption and creating a lightweight, low-carbon architectural model. Around 30,000 silver outer fabrics create shaded spaces, while approximately 170,000 plant-based (PLA) fabrics transform through visitor participation, visualizing collective emotion and supporting circular design. Advanced interactions connect physical and digital systems. Wind-driven fabric movements are translated into sound, and visitors’ facial expressions are analyzed by AI to activate the facade. Architecture becomes an interface linking people and nature, with space responding as a living entity. The project presents a scalable model integrating sustainability, emotion, and digital technology, offering a new benchmark for future architecture and society.
