On the G318 Nujiang River 72 Turns section, Archermit has created an extreme experience‑focused scenic area. The high‑altitude glass viewing platform, as the centerpiece of the project, takes its formal inspiration from the iconic hairpin turns of the 72 Turns. It cantilevers 37 meters outward from a cliff over 130 meters high, forming a “Sky Road.” The site is at an altitude of 2,800 meters, experiences gale‑force winds (Force 6+) year‑round, and has only a short construction window. Material transport is severely restricted. While ensuring the mechanical performance of the steel, the structure was divided into segments for easier transport— the entire steel truss was prefabricated in 46 sections at the factory. Heavy machinery cannot access the area, so builders manually drilled 39 pile foundations, the deepest reaching 25 meters. Zip lines, plank roads, and trestle bridges all simulate the construction scenes of the original G318— allowing visitors to personally experience and pay tribute to the monumental effort of building this highway. Early in the project, nearly 500 mu of fruit forest were planted, which has now been in production for two years, bringing hope to the barren cliffs and transforming extreme challenges into tangible experiences and economic vitality. Where modern machinery could not operate, the project relied on labor‑intensive “traditional” methods, successfully achieving precision construction in an extremely challenging high‑altitude environment.
